Beans are ground fresh for each drink with Jura's Aroma+ conical burr grinder. The Aroma+ is now faster and quieter thanks to the improved cutting angle of the burrs. Alternatively you can brew using pre-ground coffee by using the bypass doser. The bean hopper has a total capacity of 4.4oz and the dreg box holds approximately 9 servings of coffee. The water reservoir is located in the back of the machine and holds 36.8oz of water.

For milk drinks, the Impressa A9 features an integrated milk frothing system contained within the brew spouts and is compatible with Jura's Cool Control and stainless steel milk containers. For lovers of tea and cocoa, there is also a built-in spout exclusively for hot water and you can also dispense frothed milk.

To ensure the longevity of your purchase and the quality of your beverages, the Impressa A9 features a number of automated rinsing cycles that run after beverages are prepared to keep the brewing and milk circuits clean. There are also additional cleaning programs that can be accessed through the touch screen menu. You can also program your machine with your water hardness to be alerted when the time comes for you to run the descaling cycle.

For the energy conscious, the machine also features an low energy standby mode that switches on after a set period of inactivity. Standard energy consumption is 10.6 watt/hour and 4.3 watt/hour in energy saver mode. You can also program the machine to power off entirely after a certain amount of time has passed.

Bean to Cup Brewing Features

The Impressa A9 features 12 individually programmable espresso drinks that can be brewed at the touch of the button. Each drink can be modified to your exact preferences with adjustable coffee strength (6 - 10g of coffee), water volume, milk volume. Once you've found a setting you like, you can have the machine memorize it to brew again whenever you like. Alternatively, beverage parameters can be adjusted on a per drink basis while brewing in the event that you have friends or family visiting. The Impressa A9 has height adjustable spouts that can be raised or lowered between 2.2" and 5.4" and feature both white and amber cup illumination.

From a technical standpoint, the Impressa A9 brews with a high performance 15 bar pump and a thermoblock heating system. In addition to grinding fresh whole bean coffee for your drinks, you can also opt to use pre-ground coffee with the bypass doser. The water reservoir holds up to 36.8oz of water and the dreg box can hold up to nine spent pucks of coffee before needing to be emptied. The following drinks can be prepared at the push of a button:

Milk Frothing and Hot Water

You can craft milk based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos with the push of a button thanks to the integrated milk frothing spout. Unlike many of Juras other espresso machines, the frothing system on the Impressa A9 is built directly into the espresso spouts and dispenses light, feathery milk foam using Jura's fine foam technology. The frothing system siphons milk directly into the spout and is compatible for use with Jura's Stainless Steel Milk Container and their Cool Control milk containers.

For other beverages like tea and hot cocoa, you can choose to dispense hot water or milk foam only.

Aroma + Grinder, Bean Hopper, and Bypass Doser

Your coffee is ground fresh for each drink you brew by Jura's revolutionary Aroma+ grinder. The cutting angle of the stainless steel conical burrs ensures that the machine grinds twice as fast and far quieter than previous Jura models. Depending on the roast level of the beans you're using, the grinder can be set to one of five grind settings to ensure ideal extraction conditions. The bean hopper has a 4.4 oz capacity and features an aroma preservation cover to keep your beans fresher for longer. Additionally, the A9 can brew using pre-ground coffee thanks to its bypass doser and comes packaged with a coffee funnel for easy filling.

Maintenance and Energy Settings

To extend its longevity and protect the flavor of the drinks it brews, the Impressa A9 features a full suite of automatic maintenance and rinsing programs. The machine will automatically rinse the coffee and milk systems and features programs that allow you clean both your coffee circuit and milk circuits through the main menu. The machine can also be programmed with your water hardness to alert you when the machine needs to be descaled.

With regards to energy consumption, the Impressa A9 runs at 10.6 watt-hour and shifts down to a lower rate of 4.3 watt-hour in the low power energy save mode. The machine is equipped with a zero-energy switch and can be programmed with an automatic shut-off time.
